Good morning Flagstaff! If you’ve thought about getting into a creative activity like wood working or ceramics and haven’t known where to start, you might like to check out today’s section on Coco-op Makerspace. Along with that we’ve got a lot more going on in town.

New Exhibit at Museum of Northern Arizona (MNA)

🖼 Collecting in a Changing World opened March 1st at MNA. The exhibit focuses on recent acquisitions that showcase the evolving art, culture, and science across the Colorado Plateau, and the ways people engage with a shifting environment.

Featured works in the exhibit include:

  • Art and pottery from the Hopi-Tewa Nampeyo-Namingha family

  • Paintings by Hopi-Tewa artists Duane Koyawena and Ed Kabotie

  • Items representing resilience, such as pandemic-era Indigenous artifacts

  • Star Wars-inspired Diné art, collected initially for MNA’s popular The Force is With Our People exhibition from 2019-2020

Coco-op Makerspace is a community workspace where members can access tools for wood working, metal working, ceramics, sewing, digital fabrication and more! Each shop area requires an area-specific safety orientation prior to use - here are a few upcoming orientations in case you’d like to join them!

  • Woodshop Orientation Wednesday, March 12 @ 6pm

  • Digifab Orientation: Thursday, March 13 @ 6pm

  • Textiles Orientation: Saturday, March 15 @ 11am

  • Ceramics Orientation: Sunday, March 16 @ 4 PM

Spring Break Activities at MNA

👨‍👧‍👦 The museum is offering daily activities for kids during spring break from 1-3:30pm. These workshops are free to kids 9 and under and free for museum members.

  • Tuesday: Bug Bonanza

  • Thursday: Poetry in Motion

  • Friday: Cosmic Adventures

Community First Aid and Preparedness Training

This community first aid training presented by Flagstaff Mutual Aid is FREE on March 29th & 30th. Register now to secure a spot. Skilled medics will teach participants about First Aid medic packs, tools, and skills including CCR and Stop the Bleed.

🥙 Flagstaff Wool and Fiber Festival is still looking for a few food vendors for May 31st and June 1st at the Pioneer Museum. Vendor applications can be found here.

🍔 Downtown Flagstaff’s March Madness Burger Competition continues! Grab a burger, submit your vote and support your downtown community at the same time!
