Good morning Flagstaff! Today marks a month of sending this email newsletter and I’m so grateful to you all for reading and sharing it. We have over 200 readers now and I’m excited to keep growing and being able to share all the cool stuff happening in Flag.

Help for Grieving Parents

🌸 Northland Hospice hosts a Pregnancy and Infant Loss Group the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. The next session will be February 10th. The groups are hosted by Courtney Carver, LCSW and Peggy Sheldon-Scurlock, M.A. Education, M.A. Counseling.

Community Fire Meeting

👩‍🚒 Attend this meeting to learn more about our fire department and hear how we can stop an LA type of calamity from happening here. Flagstaff Fire Department Chief Mark Gaillard and firefighter Casey Gonzalez will talk about the department’s critical work, wildland fire preparation, budget and staff levels, and will be available to answer your questions.

🍖Big Foot BBQ offers party packs for 6, 12 or 18 people with smoked meats and sides. Use their online ordering to get yours.
🌮 Burritos Fiesta offers family platters with taquitos, chimichangas, mini quesadillas, and more, for 4-6 or 8-10 people. 🎟First Friday Giveaway at Flagstaff General Store: Flagstaff General Store will be giving away a gift basket, all locally made items valued at $50+. All who shop with them on First Friday are automatically entered to win!

👚🖼First Friday Art at Up N Coming Boutique & Gallery: New show featuring artists Janet Yazzie, Jerrel Singer, Starforge Creations and Bent Space Photography. Also enjoy upcycled clothing lines, and inspiring creations from several more local, independent artists! First Friday Artwalk in the Aspen Artist Lofts, 7 E Aspen Avenue. (Look for the colorful flag over the door, between Incahoots Vintage and Cafe Stella, upstairs.)

🌠 Close Encounters of the Asteroid Kind: Worlds Revealed Speaker Nick Moskovitz will talk about ongoing work related to understanding hazards posed by asteroids that could hit the Earth. He’ll focus on the recently discovered asteroid 2024 YR4, which currently poses the most significant impact hazard to the Earth of all known minor planets.
